The Dutch Tanzania Foundation formerly supported two orphanages, until learning in August 2017 that there is a better way to care for these vulnerable children: in a family. Growing up in a family is also a child's right, laid down in the 'Convention on the Rights of the Child,' which Tanzania signed in 1991. The right to grow up within the family is also stated in the Tanzanian Children's Act.

Dutch Tanzania Foundation's goal is to realize a change in Tanzania from the institutionalization of children to a family-oriented solution, a so-called Family Based Care model. In other words, from Home to Home.
