These DRAFT Regulations on the Care and Protection of Children of the Children’s Act of Zanzibar offer a definition of a child in need of protection and outline the general duties of the Department of Social Welfare in regards to providing that protection. The Regulations include procedures for: receiving a child protection referral, acting following a risk assessment, holding a child protection conference with the child and relatives, responding to the needs of children without parental care, applying for a care or supervision order, and more. They also outline the duties of the Director of Social Welfare to children in care.
