Michael Kaufman

This paper highlights the importance of promoting active fatherhood in achieving Save the Children’s goals. The paper suggests that engaging fathers in caregiving and building stronger relationships with their children can help to better protect and meet the needs of children, and that Save the Children can play a unique role in emerging international efforts to engage fathers. The document is organized into four parts: (1) Why father-inclusive work is important to Save the Children: the evidence and rationale; (2) How Save the Children is meeting various challenges in this aspect of its work; (3)  Potential areas of focus; and (4)  Specific recommendations.
