Our Interview With Practitioner

How you develop your skills as a practitioner?

Continually learn.

What are the most important things you’ve learned from this work?

Children belong in families, and international development and relief are very complex and difficult and requires necessary training, skills, and knowledge.

What are the two most helpful resources or tools in your work?

The Book "Children Belong in Families" by Mick Pease, and www.faithtoaction.org.

Why you do this work?

We used to support institutionalized care of children, learned that wasn't the best, and worked to support family-based care.

What are the best approaches for supporting families?

Helping families stay together.
