El volcán de Fuego, de 3 mil 763 metros de altura y ubicado 35 kilómetros al suroeste de la capital del país, registró el pasado 3 de junio una potente erupción seguida de una avalancha de flujos piroclásticos (mezcla de rocas, gases y ceniza), que sepultó la comunidad San Miguel Los Lotes y afectó fuertemente a las aldeas vecinas.
