This article discusses the issues of adoption, foster care and the appointment of guardians and trustees, as well as issues related to the upbringing of children deprived of parental care, innovations in family law and the placement of children deprived of parental care.

The Transformative Monitoring for Enhanced Equity (TransMonEE) Database captures a vast range of data relevant to social and economic issues relevant to the situation and wellbeing of children, young people and women in countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The reporting countries are: Australia, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Japan, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Solomon Islands, Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.
