This paper undertakes two analytical enterprises to reflect on children’s place(s) in transnational families. At the macro level, it traces the developments of how children have been socially and scientifically viewed through time, while highlighting the cross-fertilization of knowledge between migration studies and children and childhood studies. This study was aimed at filling a gap in information on Commune Committees for Women and Children (CCWCs) and their function. CCWCs were established in 2004 in Cambodia to serve as advisory bodies to local Commune Councils. CCWCs “are tasked with planning, support, advocacy, awareness raising and monitoring” of issues related to children and women.
