Hagar was founded in 1994 in response to the prevalence of extreme domestic and community violence affecting women and children in post-civil war Cambodia. Hagar has expanded to work in other countries as well.

The Child Safe Tourism campaign arms travelers with knowledge and information on simple actions to protect children and young people from abuse in tourism areas. The Child Safe Tourism campaign is part of an Australian Government initiative, Project Childhood, which aims to combat the sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism in the Mekong sub-region. Project Childhood builds on Australia’s long-term support for programs that better protect children and prevent their abuse.
Care for Children partners with governments in Asia to help create a positive alternative to institutional care through local family-based care for disadvantaged children. Care For Children’s vision is to see a million children moved from institutional care into families.
In China, Care for Children helped build up family-based care a nationally recognised practice. Care for Children is also working to build robust models of best practice in family-based care that will serve as beacons for the nation.
