The aim of this study was to investigate (a) the extent to which child maltreatment co-occurs with parental separation and (b) associations between different types of child maltreatment and various types of separation-associated interparental conflict. Professionals working with children (N = 785) reported each case of suspected child maltreatment they observed during a 3- month period and indicated whether parental divorce or separation was about to take place or had taken place. This research explores the stress children in World Vision programmes in the Middle East and Eastern Europe region are under due to COVID-19. In addition to their fear that they themselves or their loved ones will catch the disease, children worry about economic hardships, the loss of their education, increased violence and social isolation. In June 2020, the Child Protection section of UNICEF’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) conducted a survey across every country in the Region to find out how governments and partners have been using digital technology to respond to child protection issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, one in four children in the European Union (EU) were already growing up at risk of poverty or social exclusion. At the end of March 2020, the Child Protection team in the UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECARO) designed a brief online survey to take stock of what national authorities are doing to adjust national child protection systems and services in the Wake of COVID 19.
