Cross-border placement of children is addressed by the 1996 Hague Child Protection Convention, which is binding on the United Kingdom, and in EU law. The detailed procedures are governed by the domestic law of each country involved. However, it was not until 2018 that proceedings for placement of children in foster care by foreign authorities were introduced to Polish law. The article deals with the issues of family assistance from the perspective of working with the biological family of a child placed in foster care. Family support, implemented by assistants, consists of helping to overcome difficulties in order to prevent children being taken away and placed in a foster care environment, and when this happens, focusing on seeking change and creating safe conditions for their return. This article presents a study conducted amongst young adults between the ages of 19–35 (N = 67). The aim was to determine the relationship between the about information about foster care families and the attitude of young adults towards them. For this purpose, one group (n = 35) was provided with information preceding the negative behavior of juveniles, and the other group received positive information about development opportunities (n = 32).
