Involvement of the community is a topic that is gaining increasing importance in the debate on child protection social work. However, the empirical findings that help to understand the factors which enable social workers to involve community actors successfully are still scarce. This Guide, written in Spanish, features a compilation of several social protection programs, services and public policies that resulted in the prevention of family breakdown and in the support of families and communities in caring and protecting their children. It also describes different experiences of the implementation of foster care programs, and the description of processes of de-institutionalization and system reform. All these examples are taken from the Latin American region, Italy and Romania.
