Abstract
This current systematic literature review aims to examine what is known about foster parents' needs, satisfaction and perceptions of foster parent training. A systematized search in relevant databases resulted in 13 publications, with mostly quantitative studies, originating from four countries. Research on foster parent training is scarce, and the satisfaction, needs and perceptions of foster parents were included as secondary outcomes in most of the reviewed studies. A synthesis of the results from the reviewed quantitative studies indicate…

Second, what are the conditions of children with disabilities living in community? If excellent, how can those conditions be supported and expanded? If poor, how can the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families be improved? Third, are there effective strategies that can be implemented and disseminated…
Abstract
Children who have been removed from their parents need stability and permanence; this is as true for disabled children as it is for others. Yet many children are subject to extended periods of uncertainty and instability. Growing attention has been paid to the need to achieve permanence within a timescale which meets children’s needs. As disabled children are over-represented in looked after (in care) populations it is especially important that their needs are considered when formulating policy and practice in this area.

Abstract
Research involving families of children with disabilities has focused mainly on parents, particularly mothers, but the extended family, including grandparents, should also be examined. This review synthesized the literature from 1990 to 2013 regarding the subject of grandparents raising grandchildren, particularly grandchildren with disabilities. We also examine sources of support and family quality of life of grandparents raising grandchildren. Implications for those working with families in schools as well as suggestions for future research are presented.…
This article discusses the use of institutional care for children in Europe and shows that it remains common place despite the evidence of harm for children, including attachment disorder and developmental delay. The authors review the use of alternatives to institutional care and argue that children less than 3 years old, with or without disability, should not be placed in residential care without a parent and that when institutions are used as an emergency measure, the child should be moved into a foster family as soon as possible.
