This is a corporal punishment country report for Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, the Law on Protection of Child Rights 2019 prohibits corporal punishment in alternative care settings and in penal institutions.
However, corporal punishment is still lawful in the home, day care and as a sentence for crime. In the home, the new Law protects children from "any forms of physical and mental excruciation” but does not extend to prohibiting corporal punishment.

This is a corporal punishment country report for Guinea-Bissau. While prohibition of corporal punishment is still to be achieved in the home and day care, the Child Protection Code 2021 of Guinea-Bissau prohibits corporal punishment in alternative care settings, schools and in penal institutions.
The Code also prohibits physical and psychological violence, including humiliation and verbal aggression. However, it does not explicitly prohibit corporal punishment of children, however light, in the home.

India's success in eliminating child marriage is crucial to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal target 5.3. The authors aimed to estimate the prevalence of child marriage in girls and boys in India and describe its change across 36 states and Union Territories between 1993 and 2021.
Methods
For this cross-sectional study, data from five National Family Health Surveys from 1993, 1999, 2006, 2016, and 2021 were used. The study included 310,721 women aged 20–24 years between 1993 and 2021 and 43,436 men aged 20–24 years between 2006 and 2021. Child marriage…
The ability to have children is a special blessing from God to man since creation (Gen. 1:28). Hence Jesus’ recognition of children as heirs of God’s Kingdom. From one generation to another, humans also have the same blessing to reproduce and remain custodians of the earth and worshippers of God.
Beyond Biblical recognition, societies all over the world pay attention to the wellbeing and development of children because they constitute a vulnerable group. Children are adorable and have potentials for the world’s future, yet weak and fragile. They may be adaptable, resilient, and eager to…
The objectives of this study were to examine (1) the associations between parental absence for six months or more, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), mental health problems, and substance use among young adults in sub-Saharan Africa, (2) whether parental absence and other ACEs are independently associated with mental health outcomes and substance use, (3) and if parental absence explains additional variance above and beyond those explained by other ACEs.

This book explores the process of orphanage trafficking as a form of child trafficking in international law, examining the contexts in which it occurs and providing a comprehensive, holistic approach to addressing the issue as a form of trafficking.
In doing so, the author establishes the method and process of orphanage trafficking as an issue of international concern and one that countries should work together to tackle.
It outlines specifically what steps countries where orphanage trafficking occurs should take legislatively to combat the issue, and similarly what steps…
Abstract:
Global interest in child, early, and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU) is reflected in a large and growing body of research and interventions. Those interventions have focused on raising the minimum age of marriage, establishing laws and penalties for those who ignore these minimums, investing more heavily in girls’ education, addressing structural inequalities, and bringing about gender and social norm change.
Missing has been any discussion of the right to leave marriage. As we learn more about the forces that drive child marriages and unions and what works to prevent them, rare is any…
