Abstract
There are a lack of studies examining youth’s perspective on their experiences in residential care. Such studies may yield important contributions to quality improvement and, hence, outcomes of youth in residential care. In this mixed-methods study, the authors aimed to evaluate youths’ perspectives of the quality of care and experiences in residential group care.
The sample (N = 450) was comprised of 50.9% females and 48.6% males with a mean age of 14.77 (±2.27). The majority were white (36.3%) and black (36.0%). The sample was drawn from 127…

The National Framework for the Implementation of Kafaalah Care for Children in Kenya (2022) was developed to guide the process of taking in vulnerable children by families, whether they are related to the specific families or not and bringing them up the same way they bring up their biological children.
There has not been much attention by Muslims to the subject of Kafaalah as an alternative to adoption and other forms of care in Kenya. The framework will also guide key stakeholders in childcare, protection, and those in the justice system in making decisions that are in the best interest…

The Prakas aims to set principles, procedures, rights, conditions, roles and responsibilities of relevant competent ministries, institutions, entities and service providers to implement kinship care or foster care, complementing Prakas No. 2280 MoSVY dated 11 October 2011 on procedures to implement the Policy on…
The objective of this Agreement is to overcome the entrenched inequality faced by too many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people so that their life outcomes are equal to all Australians. The agreement is between the Coalition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peak Organisations and all Australian Governments. Target 12 of this Agreement is to "by 2031, reduce the rate of over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by 45 per cent."
‘Children Safe, Family Together', the new family and kin care model outlined in this paper forms an integral part of the overall strategy being currently implemented by Territory Families (TF) to transform Out-of-Home Care in the Northern Territory (NT). The strategy addresses worrying trend data pointing to the significant over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the NT child protection system. The strategy also seeks to reinforce the voices of Aboriginal organisations and communities for the Out-of-Home Care sector (OOHC) in the NT to honour the…

In 2001 the Republic of Uganda's Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) issued the Basic Requirements and Minimum Standards Indicators for Education Institutions (BRMS) to schools and other relevant stakeholders to guide the organization and management of educational institutions. However, awareness and compliance by schools are still inadequate. Poor and/or disastrous outcomes and occurrences such as strikes, school fires, internal strife, child abuse, grievances or unresolved conflicts (within schools) and other forms of poor school performance are a clear manifestation of this inadequacy…
