During the week of the 48th UN Statistical Convention, 45 UN Member States came together to form the 'Group of Friends of Children and the SDGs on the Importance of Child-focused Indicators and Data.' The attached statement by the 'Group of Friends' addressed the UN Statistical Commission on the importance of monitoring SDG progress among all children, including children who live outside of households, calling to "leave no child behind" on the 2030 Agenda.
SOS Children's Villages has produced an assessment tool to benchmark the implementation of the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children. The tool was developed by Nigel Cantwell and SOS Children's Villages, with technical support from Professor June Thoburn (University of East Anglia, UK). It has been designed as the principal research tool of SOS Children's Villages to support advocacy activities.
