Practice-based evidence and research has shown that structured, supportive and reflective supervision helps to improve worker retention and performance and results in higher quality services and support to children and families. When workers are provided the time and space to critically reflect on their work through the guidance of a trained supervisor, the quality of their work increases. The 7th annual Social Service Workforce Week will be celebrated October 26 - 30. The 2020 theme highlights the many essential roles of the social service workforce in the lives of individuals, families and communities. The week will include daily blogs, worker profiles, new resources and a webinar. It will also include release of a new guidance manual on supervision of the social service workforce, developed by the Alliance's Interest Group on Supervision.
The 2017 OVC Applied Research & Best Practice Symposium will unite top academic OVC researchers with leaders of faith-based NGOs serving children around the world, seeking together to give empirically-validated answers to the question of how we can elevate care for vulnerable children. Practitioners will gain exposure to incisive research and new data, innovations and best practices in the field.
