Approximately one in ten children globally live with kinship caregivers—relatives and family friends who step in to care for a child when parents are unable to do so. There are a lack of studies examining youth’s perspective on their experiences in residential care. Such studies may yield important contributions to quality improvement and, hence, outcomes of youth in residential care. In this mixed-methods study, the authors aimed to evaluate youths’ perspectives of the quality of care and experiences in residential group care.

This paper presents a community based participatory research project, which adopted a photovoice approach with seven unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) living in foster care in the United Kingdom. The project also included a focus group with six foster carers to explore their perceptions of caring for UASCs. At the end of the focus group we then shared the young people's images from the photovoice project. Youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems have numerous unmet health needs and long-term negative health outcomes. Photovoice is a qualitative research method in which participants produce photographs and narratives to communicate their perspectives. This article reports on a study of children's experiences of being physically restrained by staff in a range of custodial settings [including Local Authority Secure Children's Homes]. In 2013, CREATE used the National Standards for Out-of-Home Care (National Standards) to produce it its first comprehensive survey on the out-of-home care system. In order to offer client-centered services, it is important to measure children’s service satisfaction and reflect their needs to out-of-home care practices and policies. However, a reliable measure that assesses children’s satisfaction about out-of-home care is not found in Korea. This study aimed to develop a Korean out-of-home care satisfaction scale.
