Retrak has released a literature review on independent living programmes in an effort to understand the needs of young people coming of age on the streets. The research revealed that there is little evidence of good practice regarding independent living programmes for children on the streets. Most of the resources are focused on sub-Saharan Africa.
One of the three new programme priorities of the Bernard van Leer Foundation is to help strengthen the care environment of the child.
