Abstract
There are a lack of studies examining youth’s perspective on their experiences in residential care. Such studies may yield important contributions to quality improvement and, hence, outcomes of youth in residential care. Photovoice is a qualitative research method in which participants produce photographs and narratives to communicate their perspectives. This article explores care leavers’ views and recommendations for practitioners and policymakers on the transition from leaving care to living independently in the community.
Seven young adults fully reintegrated through programmes in Kathmandu, Nepal, co-produced action research with 21 of their peers (aged 16–26 years). In order to offer client-centered services, it is important to measure children’s service satisfaction and reflect their needs to out-of-home care practices and policies.
