22 organisations are urging the EU to call for the respect of international humanitarian law and an immediate ceasefire by all parties as the number of children being killed continues to rise.
We urge the EU to protect these children by speaking in one united voice and:
- Call for an immediate ceasefire by all parties in the conflict.
- Unequivocally call on all parties to respect international Humanitarian Law, commit no further Grave Violations against children and ensure that there is accountability for those committed to date.

Pozostając w zgodzie z decyzją rządu Ukrainy o zawieszeniu adopcji międzynarodowych, wzywamy państwa przyjmujące, organy międzynarodowe i organizacje humanitarne do przyjęcia zharmonizowanego podejścia i wprowadzenia moratorium na przysposobienie międzynarodowe dzieci z Ukrainy.
During emergencies, such as conflict, it is a well-accepted principle of States’ obligations under international law that adoption is not an appropriate response for unaccompanied and separated children. Children separated from their parents during a humanitarian emergency cannot be assumed to be orphans.
Until the fate of a child's parents or other close relatives can be verified, each separated child should be considered as still having living relatives or legal guardians and, therefore, is not in need of adoption.
This is a joint call for a moratorium on intercountry adoption in…
These recommendations are intended for international, national and local agencies and authorities with a role to play in the emergency response in Ukraine, in particular in aspects pertaining to protection of children. All NGOs called on the international community to protect the 100,000 children from institutions in Ukraine. These organizations warned that without a centralised system to track the whereabouts, safety and well-being of these children, they risk being trafficked, or abandoned.
Children in Yemen are facing a daily struggle to survive in what is the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. After five years of conflict, around four in five children – 12.3 million – are in desperate need of aid. Tens of thousands of children have died, both as a direct result of the fighting, and from indirect causes like disease and malnutrition. More than 1.7 million children have been forced to flee their homes and are living in camps or improvised settings in other parts of Yemen. Devastating food and cholera crises emerged during the conflict; while violence persistently blights lives,…

- Food supplements, health care access, cash assistance & other social protection measures

Launched in September 2018, the Global Coalition for Reintegration of Child Soldiers—co-chaired by the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and the United Nations Children’s Fund—tasked its Expert Advisory Group to carry out research, interviews and a series of consultations to develop three interrelated briefing papers, each with a distinct focus, but all with an aim to understand how the international community could more effectively support children who have exited armed forces and armed groups. This document is a summary of the three papers and contains…
Every day a child remains with an armed force or group, he or she is at risk of physical, psychological and sexual violence, and even death. Prevention of recruitment; separating children from armed forces and groups; responding to their needs; and supporting the reintegration process are all life-saving interventions. Actions to address the needs of Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups (CAAFAG) must continue in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and in coordination with associated response measures.
In addition to the unique dynamics of each conflict context, the wide-ranging…
