This handbook was made for children to read and write in. You’ll learn about why families are important and why they are the best place for children to grow up. There is also plenty of space for children to write down their thoughts and feelings about what they have read.
Adopcja międzynarodowa nie powinna być realizowana w trakcie lub bezpośrednio po sytuacji kryzysowej. Pozostając w zgodzie z decyzją rządu Ukrainy o zawieszeniu adopcji międzynarodowych, wzywamy państwa przyjmujące, organy międzynarodowe i organizacje humanitarne do przyjęcia zharmonizowanego podejścia i wprowadzenia moratorium na przysposobienie międzynarodowe dzieci z Ukrainy.
Ending violence against children requires a change in the way people behave towards children and a shift in the social norms that condone violence towards them. But social and behaviour change (SBC) interventions for ending violence against children are often underfunded and only included as an afterthought. This has to change.
This advocacy guide provides ideas and tools for making a case in favour of the inclusion of SBC approaches in the portfolio of solutions embraced by local and national governments, donors and other stake-holders. It includes both a foundational framework as well as…
During emergencies, such as conflict, it is a well-accepted principle of States’ obligations under international law that adoption is not an appropriate response for unaccompanied and separated children. Children separated from their parents during a humanitarian emergency cannot be assumed to be orphans.
Until the fate of a child's parents or other close relatives can be verified, each separated child should be considered as still having living relatives or legal guardians and, therefore, is not in need of adoption.
This is a joint call for a moratorium on intercountry adoption in…
These advocacy messages have been developed to support advocacy efforts conducted by Alliance members and wider humanitarian actors responding to and working on the Ukraine crisis response. The global subgroup on Children's Care and Ukraine, which is co-led by the Alliance's Unaccompanied and Separated Children Task Force (UASC) and the Global Collaborative Platform on Transforming Children's Care, developed the messaging for the UASC section.
These recommendations are intended for international, national and local agencies and authorities with a role to play in the emergency response in Ukraine, in particular in aspects pertaining to protection of children. All NGOs called on the international community to protect the 100,000 children from institutions in Ukraine. These organizations warned that without a centralised system to track the whereabouts, safety and well-being of these children, they risk being trafficked, or abandoned.
An estimated 6.7 million children have suffered from COVID-19-associated orphanhood and caregiver death in the past two years (as of January 15, 2022). This number is rapidly growing: every 6 seconds another child loses a parent or caregiver. This report, issued by dozens of leading international NGOs, outlines the magnitude of loss globally due to COVID-19 and presents tangible steps that the U.S. government can take to support children and families.
This collaborative-led memo proposes that the U.S. government:
- leverage the U.S.-hosted Global COVID-19 Summit this spring to…
The goal of the summit was to lead lasting change in the lives of millions of people with disabilities. To succeed, it is crucial that governments, international organizations, civil society and private business commit themselves to increased efforts to promote inclusion and rights-based development.
Different focus areas were highlighted through the two overarching themes of meaningful participation and reconstruction in the light of COVID-19. These are universal issues in line with the UN's sustainability agenda, but the summit focused on the countries that are furthest from…
