Country Care Review: Guatemala

Better Care Network

This country care review includes the care related Concluding Observations adopted by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Committee on the Right of the Child at their recent examinations of Guatemala's report. The Committees' recommendations on the issues relevant to children's care are highlighted, as well as other care-related concluding observations, ratification dates, and links to the Universal Periodic Review and Hague Intercountry Adoption Country Profile.

One paragraph of note in the CRPD's 2016 Concluding Observations is:

74. The Committee notes with concern that the limited funding sourced from international cooperation is frequently used to finance institutions where children and adults with disabilities are permanently segregated and that many such institutions are sustained by the growing trend towards voluntarism in Guatemala.
