This assessment complements the UNHCR-led interagency assessment that focused on Gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children (VAC) in 11 refugee settlements (UNHCR and OPM 2019). The Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDIP) analysis includes a comprehensive mapping of services for GBV and VAC prevention and response across the key sectors of health, police, justice, and social services in refugee settlements and host communities. In addition, qualitative data were collected through focus group discussions with refugees and local populations; interviews with…
Abstract
Background: Violence against children (VAC) is a widespread, global issue with far-reaching social and economic consequences. In recent years, VAC has received substantial international attention, resulting in government initiatives to reduce VAC, in part, by strengthening data collection and information systems.
Objective: This scoping review was undertaken to map survey methodologies for VAC measurement in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries and to identify key considerations for developing both…
This evidence and gap map will provide an overview of the existing systematic reviews and impact evaluations on the key outcome domains and interventions aimed at reducing violence against children in LMICs using an intervention-outcome framework. It will identify areas in which there are good bodies of synthesized knowledge to inform policy, and those areas in which there is little or no evidence synthesis. The specific objectives of this map are to:
i. Develop a clear framework of types of interventions and outcomes to provide an overview of available evidence on the interventions…
In this webinar presented by RISE Learning Network, Omattie Madray and Zenainda Rosales presented an extensive study recently carried out which analyzed over 100 documents and conducted over 20 interviews to gain insights on practices of organizations supporting and caring for boys affected by sexual violence in their recovery process. They looked into how social norms around gender influence care for boys affected and discussed what is needed to ensure quality alternative care.
Out of the shadows: Shining light on the response to child sexual abuse and exploitation is an Economist Intelligence Unit research programme supported by the World Childhood Foundation and the Oak Foundation with additional support from the Carlson Family Foundation.
It is based largely on a country-level benchmarking index that evaluates how stakeholders are responding to the scourge of sexual violence against children in 40 selected countries. They include: Albania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy,…
UNICEF Cambodia’s Child Protection Programme 2016-2018 aimed to achieve the outcome that “by 2018, girls and boys vulnerable to and exposed to violence and those separated from their family, or at risk of separation, are increasingly protected by the institutional and legislative frameworks, quality services, and a supportive community environment.” The Programme has taken a system-strengthening approach at the levels of national and sub-national institutions; service providers; and children, families and communities.
Further, the objective of the evaluation was to provide evidence that…

This case study is part of a UNICEF global initiative, undertaken in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada to document national child protection frameworks in five core programming countries: Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Senegal and the United Republic of Tanzania. The studies are intended to generate a better understanding of the country context, Government response, engagement by other actors and additional factors that are contributing to success in protecting children from violence, exploitation and abuse.
Information for this case study was collected between April 2014 and June…
On December 10, 2014, the CPC Learning Network hosted a webinar to discuss the integration of early childhood development and violence prevention. In this webinar, faculty affiliate Dr. Cassie Landerspresented her recent landscape analysis of networks, campaigns, initiatives, and movements that bridge the areas of early childhood development and violence prevention. Dr. Landers shared her learning about both the challenges and the potential for integrated programming to support both areas of work.
