Neglect is a type of child abuse that leads to a variety of consequences on child development. Although neglect is present in any social class, a lot of parents that live in poverty are not negligent; but poverty has many characteristics that contribute to the presence of neglect. The objective of the work described in this chapter was to know the daily routine of a shelter for children aged 0 to 6 located in Espírito Santo and understand the factors involved in the psychosocial development of children in foster care. The purpose was to analyze the work dynamics of the institution, the practices promoted with families and the community, and the interpersonal relationships developed in the context of the institution through the methodology of Ecological Engagement.
